PARENTS: Re. Continued Social Media Threats

Dear Worley Families,

It is important to keep our families informed about what's happening at our campus, and with that in mind, I wanted to keep you updated about some threatening social media posts that are continuing to circulate among students in many districts in our area. There is no evidence that these threats are credible. Mansfield ISD Police are monitoring and staying informed about the spread of social media threats.  The same images in the posts are being used throughout the state of Texas. Individuals are simply changing the names of the schools mentioned. Rest assured our MISD Police and administrators are remaining vigilant to provide a safe environment for our student and staff.

I'd like to encourage our families to discuss the serious consequences that can arise from students creating or sharing threatening social media messages. Our district protocols require us to notify the police whenever this occurs. Even if the message turns out to be a prank, there is a possibility the student can face criminal charges in addition to discipline through the district. Mansfield ISD created the This is our House one-stop location on the district's website where anyone can report an issue or seek help. With everyone's help, we can continue to keep our school a safe place to learn.
