CAMPUS NOTICE 10/25/24: Lockdown/Hold Released for Medical Emergency

Dear Worley MS Families,

We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students and to keeping our families informed about what is happening on our campus.

Today, during 4th period while some students were at lunch, a student experienced a medical emergency on campus, and instead of a hold status, a lockdown was initiated around 12:39 p.m. At that time, students who were in  the cafeteria were directed to a safe location and upon immediate response and investigation, the lockdown was lifted and a hold status was set in place at 12:42 p.m. During this time, our nursing and support staff immediately provided care and contacted the student's parents. After the hold was cleared at 12:55 p.m. and students made it to the next class, I made an announcement over the intercom to reassure students that they were safe and that there was not a safety concern.

Learning continued and students and teachers maintained our normal class schedule. Staff handled the situation in a highly professional manner due to ongoing training they have received regarding safety and security protocols. These situations can be stressful for students, so if your student is needing support or to see our counselors, please know that they are available.
